Messmer the Impaler is one of the most formidable adversaries waiting within the Shadow Keep. Wielding fiery serpentine spears and explosive flame incantations, defeating him requires quick reaction times and specific elemental defenses.
Recommended Preparation
- Scadutree Blessing: Level 9 or higher recommended.
- Talisman of the Dread & Flamedrake Talisman +3: Crucial for negating his high burst fire damage.
- Summon Strategy: Hornsent or Black Knife Tiche can effectively draw aggression during the transformation phases.
Phase 1: Spear Thrusts & Spiral Flames
Messmer starts with an aerial dive attack surrounded by dark flame. Dodge forward right before the spear impact rather than backwards to avoid the shockwave radius.
Phase 2: Base Serpent Messmer
When his health drops to 50%, Messmer transforms into the giant serpent. Run in a zig-zag trajectory when he casts the multi-headed serpent barrage.
