Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree Review — A Colossal Masterpiece

ajin nikam • October 30, 2026 • Tested on: PlayStation 5 & PC • Playtime: 75 Hours Tested

Shadow of the Erdtree is not just an expansion; it is virtually an entire sequel packed into a single DLC. FromSoftware has engineered a masterclass in atmospheric environmental design, punishing yet deeply rewarding boss encounters, and sprawling multilayered vertical level architecture that continually defies expectations.

The Land of Shadow offers some of the most staggering vistas the genre has ever witnessed. Weapons like the Light Greatsword, Hand-to-Hand Arts, and Backhand Blades breathe fresh adrenaline into the combat system, while new legacy dungeons rival the best fortress designs of Dark Souls history.
